According to Akpabio, the decision was reached after consultations with the Senate leadership as a gesture of support for the bereaved families.
"After discussion with the leadership, we decided to support the families of the deceased victims of the Oriire abduction with a token of ₦50 million," Akpabio said.
The announcement comes as the nation continues to mourn the victims and calls grow for stronger measures to improve security and protect schools across the country.
