Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has disclosed that Nigeria now officially has the largest private jet fleet in Africa, with nearly 240 private jets currently in operation across the country.
Keyamo made the announcement during a strategic meeting with Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier Inc. in Montreal, where discussions focused on establishing a major aircraft maintenance and service centre in Nigeria.
According to the minister, the proposed maintenance hub would significantly reduce the amount of foreign exchange spent servicing aircraft overseas, create skilled jobs, boost local technical expertise, and position Nigeria as a regional hub for business aviation.
He noted that billions of naira in foreign currency leave the country regularly for aircraft maintenance abroad, making the establishment of a local facility a key priority under the Federal Government's aviation reform agenda.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to modernise Nigeria's aviation sector through partnerships with leading global aircraft manufacturers and improve the country's operational efficiency. 🇳🇬✈️
