Social commentator Dani Regha has urged Nigerians to avoid directing their anger at South African businesses operating in Nigeria amid reports of attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.
According to Regha, while the alleged attacks are condemnable and South African authorities should take action, retaliating by forcing companies such as MTN and DStv out of Nigeria would ultimately hurt millions of Nigerians employed by those businesses.
He argued that these companies have created jobs and provide essential services that the government has struggled to offer, warning that their exit could worsen unemployment and negatively impact the economy.
Regha concluded by calling for a logical approach to the situation, stressing that while South Africans responsible for xenophobic attacks should be held accountable, "you do not fight hate with hate."
